The San Rafael Police Department announced it will be conducting a DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint on Saturday, Aug. 3, between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m.

Officers will be inspecting all drivers who pass through the checkpoint for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment. Officers will also be checking for proper licensing and specially trained officers will be available to evaluate those suspected of drug-impaired driving.

Drivers caught driving under the influence may face jail time, license suspension and insurance increases, as well as fines, fees, DUI classes and other expenses totaling near $10,000.
