In honor of Earth Day, the Novato community will celebrate by cleaning up litter, weeds and graffiti throughout the City. The 18th annual “Clean and Green Day,” scheduled for Saturday, April 20, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., is organized by the Novato Streetscape Maintenance Coalition, a city-sponsored committee of volunteers.

Since 1995, participants have picked up trash, eradicated graffiti, and pulled weeds in Novato street medians, parks, schools, trails, creek banks and open space. Materials such as safety vests, bags and gloves are provided and volunteers can choose to work on any area between Olompali and Pacheco Valley, and Black Point to Indian Valley.

No prior experience is required. Volunteers should meet at the Scottsdale Pond Gazebo to pick their location. Groups of five or more, call 899-8244, Ed Schulze at 897-8969 or Susan Stompe at 897-1610.

Community members can also adopt a park, traffic median, sidewalk or other public area. To learn more, call 899.8287.
