The Novato-based Vintage Oaks Shopping Center announced they are lighting the center blue for Autism Awareness Month this April.

Tenant, Nicole Hitchcock, owner of NH2 Salon, is the mother of an eight-year-old old autistic son. She worked with Vintage Oaks management to organize bringing in blue lights to recognize World Autism Day on April 2 and Autism Awareness Month in April.

Autism affects more kids then AIDS, cancer and diabetes combined. Autism is the fasted growing disability in the world and is a complex neurological disorder that affects how the brain processes information. No two autistic people have the exact same symptoms. There is a large spectrum of disorders that are labeled as Autism.
